General
How often should gutters be cleaned?
At least twice a year for most Middle Tennessee homes, typically late spring and late fall. Heavy tree cover calls for more, and gutter guards can reduce the frequency.
What are the benefits of seamless gutters?
Far fewer joints to leak, a cleaner look, less maintenance and a longer service life than sectional gutters. We install 6-inch seamless gutters for added capacity.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes, always, with no pressure.
What areas do you serve?
Nashville, Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Columbia, Spring Hill, Lewisburg and communities throughout Middle Tennessee.
Seamless Gutter Installation
Are seamless gutters worth the cost compared to sectional gutters?
For most homes, yes. Because the runs are continuous, there are far fewer joints that can open up and leak over time, and that means less maintenance and a longer service life. Seamless gutters also look cleaner. The upfront price is typically modestly higher than sectional gutters, but you are paying for fewer failure points rather than for appearance alone.
How long does a seamless gutter installation take?
Most single-family homes can be completed in a day, although larger or more complex roofs with many corners and downspouts can take longer. We will give you a realistic timeline with your estimate so you know what to expect.
Do I need new gutters or can mine be repaired?
If your gutters are mostly sound and the problems are limited to a few leaking joints, loose hangers or a damaged section, repair may be the better value. If they are sagging along most of their length, rusting through, pulling away from rotted fascia or simply too small for your roof, replacement is usually the better long-term choice. We will give you an honest opinion either way.
Can you add gutter guards at the same time?
Yes. Installing guards during a new gutter installation is often the most efficient way to do it, since the gutters are clean, level and easy to work on. Our gutter guard page explains how the different styles compare.
Gutter Guard Installation
Do gutter guards really work?
Yes, when the right guard is installed on a properly pitched gutter. They significantly reduce clogs, but they are not magic. Fine debris can still collect over time, and no guard performs well over a damaged or poorly sloped gutter. That is why we inspect first and are honest about what will work on your roof.
Can guards be installed on my existing gutters?
In most cases, yes. If your existing gutters are structurally sound, pitched correctly and the right size, we can add guards after a cleaning. If they are sagging, rusted or leaking badly, replacing them first is usually a better investment.
Will gutter guards cause ice or overflow problems?
Tennessee winters rarely produce the sustained ice-dam conditions seen in colder climates, so ice is seldom the concern here. Overflow during extreme downpours is more relevant, and that comes down to matching the guard to your roof pitch and gutter size. Using 6-inch gutters with properly sized downspouts helps as well.
Do I still need to clean my gutters if I have guards?
Much less often. Most homeowners need only an occasional inspection and rinse rather than regular scooping. If you would rather not think about it, our maintenance plans can handle it for you.
Gutter Cleaning and Maintenance
How often should gutters be cleaned?
At least twice a year for most Middle Tennessee homes, typically late spring and late fall. Homes near large oaks, maples or pines may need more frequent service, and homes with gutter guards may need less.
Do you flush the downspouts?
Yes. Flushing the downspouts is part of a proper cleaning because downspouts are where many clogs hide. It also lets us confirm that water is actually leaving the system and where it ends up.
Will you clean up the debris?
Yes. We remove the debris from the gutters and leave the work area clean, so you are not left with piles of wet leaves around the house.
Is gutter cleaning really necessary if I have gutter guards?
Guards reduce how often you need it, but they do not eliminate it entirely. Fine debris and grit can still build up on and under a guard over time. A periodic inspection and cleaning keeps the system performing as designed.
Gutter Repair
What are signs my gutters need repair?
Leaking or overflowing gutters, sagging or pulled-away sections, puddles near the foundation, peeling paint, rust streaks and soft fascia are the most common signs. If you see any of them, it is worth having someone take a look before the damage spreads.
Can a leaking gutter be fixed or does it need replacing?
Many leaks can be fixed by cleaning and resealing the joint or replacing a small section. If leaks occur along most of the gutter run or the metal is deteriorating, replacement is usually the better value. We will tell you which applies to your home.
Why does my gutter keep pulling away from the house?
Usually because the hangers have lost their grip in the fascia, the gutter has been carrying too much weight from standing water or debris, or the fascia has rotted. Re-hanging without fixing the underlying cause rarely lasts.
Do you repair gutters installed by another company?
Yes. We work on gutters regardless of who installed them, and we will give you an honest assessment of what it will take to make them work properly.
Downspouts and Drainage
How far should a downspout extend from the house?
A common guideline is at least four to six feet from the foundation, and farther if your yard slopes toward the house. The goal is to put the water where it will drain away rather than soak back toward the foundation.
Should I bury my downspout drain lines?
Buried lines are a good option when you do not want extensions across the yard or when the water needs to travel a long way. They need a proper discharge point and a correct slope to work, and we will help you decide whether it fits your property.
Can you add more downspouts to my existing gutters?
Yes. Adding a downspout to a long run is often a very effective improvement, especially during heavy rain. We will check that the new outlet is placed where it makes sense for drainage and appearance.
Do you handle yard grading or French drains?
Our focus is the gutter and downspout system. If your problem goes beyond that, such as regrading or a full French drain, we will tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.
Gutter Maintenance Plans
How often should I schedule gutter maintenance in Middle Tennessee?
Twice a year, in late spring and late fall, works for most homes. Heavy tree cover may call for a third visit, and homes with gutter guards may need only an annual inspection.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
Talk to us about how we structure plans when you call. We would rather earn your repeat business with good work than lock you into something you are unsure about.
What if you find a problem during a maintenance visit?
We will tell you what we found, show you where it is and give you an estimate for the repair. Small fixes can often be done right then, and nothing is done without your approval.
Can landlords and property managers use maintenance plans?
Yes. Recurring service is very useful for rental properties and multi-home owners. Contact us with the addresses and we will put together a schedule.
Christmas Light Installation
Will the lights damage my gutters or roof?
Not when they are installed properly. We use fastening methods that are appropriate for gutters, shingles and fascia, and we avoid anything that bends metal, loosens hangers or punctures the roofing. Protecting your home is part of the job.
Do you take the lights down after the holidays?
Yes. Takedown is part of the service, so you are not left with a roofline full of lights in February.
When should I book holiday lighting?
As early as you can. Installation dates fill up as the holidays approach, and booking early gives you more scheduling options.
Can you clean my gutters before installing the lights?
Yes, and we recommend it. A clean roofline is easier to decorate, and it gets your gutters ready for winter rain at the same time.
